Dawn and Jose Moreira are the owners of de Brito Baking Bistro. Dawn was born and raised in Ft. Madison, Iowa but had been living in South Florida with her husband Jose and daughter Gabriela until 2009. They moved back to Iowa to be closer to family and opened de Brito Baking Bistro.
Jose has worked in the restaurant business for over 25 years and is the cook at the restaurant, as well as at home. He loves to cook and his specialty is making all different types of sauces that enhance the food he serves, especially when serving dinner entrees. He also enjoys making all different types of soups, which you will find on the daily menu.
de Brito Baking Bistro sets itself apart from the other restaurants in town by offering unique items that you would not normally find in a small town. They also take great pride in the healthy choices they provide on their menu. All sandwiches and salads are made to order and the sandwiches are complimented with vegetables rather than French fries or potato chips. There are very few items on the menu that are fried and they usually have to be ordered as a separate side dish.
